Artist’s Statement
The joy I get from spending time exploring the outdoors, along with my love for photography and our natural environment inspire me to create. Our natural world encourages me to find and discover the “awe” in my daily life. My current work is cyanotype-based and are visual representations of this daily adventure.
My work includes various elements such as: ammonia and hydrogen peroxide to bubbles and paprika, along with eco-printing techniques, every piece I create has an element of mystery to it. I sometimes use other media on my pieces such as watercolor, ink, or collage.
My hope is my artwork inspires others to interact with our natural world more deeply. To stop for a minute to watch the fog roll in, notice how much the sand sparkles in sunlight or watch a caterpillar munch on a leaf. Take what I call a “Discovery Walk” to see what you can find.
About the Artist
I am a self-taught artist and photographer born and raised around citrus groves and cattle in sunny (and hot) Central Florida. I now live in Chattanooga, Tennessee-with my husband and furry children, Chewbacca & Lucas. I spend my time observing, collecting, hiking, and making art.
