When making things is your livelihood you don’t want to spend a lot of time experimenting. At least I don’t. It’s taken a lot of discipline to let myself “play” and over time I’ve been able to set aside part of my week to explore new mediums and just let go.
This was was one of those “let go’s”. First of all, trying to print on tissue paper turned out like…
That was my first attempt. My second attempt turned out just as bad but the way the inks came out of the printer (and by “came out” I mean basically yanked out after several failed tugs) were lovely.
I kept thinking about how sometimes in life we think things are going to a certain way and when they don’t we felt torn and ripped to shreds, like this tissue paper. But sometimes…just sometimes…we can find beauty in the sorrows.
This was one of those times.
I sold this triptych. I’m blessed to do what I love and even more blessed that my work resonates with people in deep ways. May all our days be filled with happy mistakes!
